Seyyed Hadi Hashemi (Hadi) is an Applied Science Manager specializing in LLM Post-Training and Inference Optimization at eBay. With over a decade of experience in machine learning research and engineering, Hadi has spent more than six years leading applied science and ML engineering teams to develop large language models, search, and intelligent assistant systems at global scale.

Prior to joining eBay, Hadi spent over five years at ING Analytics (2018–2024), where he led Applied Science and ML Engineering teams to deliver a wide range of analytical products across domains such as information retrieval, natural language processing, and machine learning.

Hadi earned his Ph.D. in Information Retrieval from the University of Amsterdam’s Institute for Logic, Language and Computation (ILLC), under the supervision of Jaap Kamps. His doctoral research focused on contextual search, intelligent assistants (e.g., Microsoft Cortana), and their evaluation. During his Ph.D., he completed research internships at Booking (2017) and Microsoft AI Research (2017, 2018).

He is an active contributor to the information retrieval community, publishing research papers in top venues and serving on program committees for major conferences, including SIGIR, WSDM, and ACL.

Hadi also holds an M.Sc. in Software Engineering from Sharif University of Technology and a B.Sc. in Software Engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology.
